Want to see what PhotoShop can do to a photo like this?

We've wanted to go to Egypt for 25 years, but the nagging worries about of the safety of tourists kept us from making the trip. Finally, during the US elections, we decided the safest place to be was probably in the Middle East. Off we go. Little did we know that while we were there the US would intensify the war in Iraq and Yassir Arafat would die, but hey, we got home safely.

We also say some of the most incredible sights in the world - sites that have fascinated tourists for three millenia! We went with National Geographic who had inside trackk due to their support of archaeology and tourism in Egypt. Our Guide, Aki Akram, here between Karen and I in front of the Pyramids at Giza, was knowledgeable, well-connected (he nows EVERYBODY-I swear!), told great stories and got us into places we'd never see without him!

As usual, I took a ton of photos, 1460 or so, but this site will only be about 110 of them.

Like our web pages on the Galapagos and Baja Whale Watching trips, this one will be a travelogue, organized by days, with the links below. I kept the tickets from our visits and made them links to each page.

An addition to the pages this trip was the notes taken by Jan, one of our fellow travellers, which are a very interesting stream-of-consciousness travelogue.

So you will get my photos, identifications and Jan's travel notes.

Sometime soon, I'll add some arty photos too. Check back.
