Believe it or not! These are real things we've seen here in California. |
This is an interesting piece of history. Will Rogers was the most famous man in America in the 1930s - more famous than any movei star or politician. He was also a flying enthusiast who first flew - it's said- by going to the post office, weighing himself and buying postage, so he could fly on a mail plane - before any scheduled passenger flights! He and his close friend Wiley Post planned a round-the-world trip, but they crashed in Alaska and were killed. At the Rogers ranch in Santa Monica, CA, this globe still stands in his office, with his penciled-in route they planned to fly. Here's a bigger photo so you can see the details! |

Sign for a county work camp for inmates in San Diego County. Look closely, on the left is the street name: "Fink Road" and on the right, a sign saying "Dead End," obviously a commentary on the future of the inmates there. |

Borrega Springs, Anza Borrega Desert Park And if you head just south, you are in "Hellhole Canyon." Totally believeable if you have ever been in the desert in the summer...good reason to stay north! |
